In this case <strong>the\ntray must be incredibly precise<\/strong>, and is made from an accurate initial\nimpression in alginate.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The device is made from&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.zhermack.com\/en\/product\/elite-lc-tray-2\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (apre in una nuova scheda)\">photopolymerisable resin<\/a><\/strong>, taking the areas where compression should be avoided during the impression process into account, namely:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>the&nbsp;<strong>soft tissues<\/strong>&nbsp;which may be altered by the pressure of the tray;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the&nbsp;<strong>areas of muscle activity<\/strong>&nbsp;which might dislodge the prosthesis;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the points where&nbsp;<strong>the passage of nerves or blood vessels<\/strong>&nbsp;could cause pain on pressure, or which could be damaged by the future prosthesis.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A&nbsp;<strong>close collaboration between the\nclinician and the dental technician<\/strong> is vital. When using the functional\nimpression technique, once the initial alginate impression has been obtained,\nthe dentist should mark the functional areas to be rejected or excluded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With this technique, the dentist should\nincrease the retention of the impression tray to the soft tissues when taking\nthe impression from the patient, achieved <strong>using thermoplastic pastes<\/strong>\ndesigned to obtain a good marginal seal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Holes can be made to increase the retention\nof the impression material to the tray, the size of which is dependent on the\nmaterial used &#8211; smaller for a polysulfide, larger for an alginate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Using a custom tray means creating an\narticle which is tailor-made to the anatomy of the patient, resulting in a more\nprecise impression, increased patient comfort, and less wastage of material.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The ability to&nbsp;<strong>customise the\nimpression tray according to patient anatomy<\/strong> allows the dentist to take a\nmore precise impression, reducing the risk of material deformation and\ncompression of the soft tissues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">All of this results in a better-quality\nimpression, an indispensable prerequisite for creating a prosthesis which meets\nthe needs and characteristics of each individual patient.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The impression tray is the starting point for any type of indirect rehabilitation, whether a mobile prosthesis, or a prosthesis on implant.
