{"id":717,"date":"2019-02-18T15:49:22","date_gmt":"2019-02-18T14:49:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/magazine.zhermack.com\/?p=717"},"modified":"2019-02-18T16:01:27","modified_gmt":"2019-02-18T15:01:27","slug":"disinfection-of-dental-surfaces-choosing-the-best-product","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/magazine.zhermack.com\/en\/igiene\/disinfection-of-dental-surfaces-choosing-the-best-product\/","title":{"rendered":"Disinfection of dental surfaces: choosing the best product"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In any healthcare facility of any size, the correct disinfection and sterilisation of the surfaces and equipment used for treatment is crucial to avoid the risk of transmitting pathogenic micro-organisms to staff, patients, visitors and equipment.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Disinfection and sterilisation are the mainstay of clinical excellence, equally as important as the quality of care provided.<\/p>\n<p>While the issue of infection control goes far beyond the practices of <strong>decontamination<\/strong>, <strong>disinfection<\/strong> and <strong>antisepsis<\/strong>, these steps are fundamental for the safety of staff and patients alike.<\/p>\n<p>In a<strong> healthcare setting<\/strong>, instruments and items for patient care can be divided into three categories &#8211; <strong>non-critical<\/strong>, <strong>semi-critical<\/strong> and <strong>critical<\/strong> &#8211; which dictate the choice of disinfectant.<\/p>\n<p>This classification is not the only factor to bear in mind when choosing a disinfectant.
